A manufacturer of compressors produced an array of standard and custom products including control panels they built. Their standard delivery was (4-6) weeks and they'd ship (300-600) units per year.

Their problem was equipment shipment delays due to control panel problems.

Internal Issues
They'd build control panels for stock and modifiy them for specific units reaching final production. They'd handle every panel twice, once when produced for stock and again when modified for production. They were constantly making stock panels unusable by robbing from one to modify another. They had limited engineering support for controls, so their Engineering VP was constantly solving control panel problems, which was a constant distraction from his primary function.

We ship them pre-configured control panels (for specific units reaching final production) one week prior to each specific unit's final production schedule and email them an engineering submittal with as-built drawings, which they include in their equipment documentation.
